About The Frugirl

Hello! My name is Catherine and I’m a 24 year old living just outside of NYC. I started this blog with the intention of documenting my journey to FI and sharing tips and tricks on how to have an affordable lifestyle.

In case you aren’t familiar with the term FI, it’s short for Financial Independence. What does this mean exactly? Financial Independence is the status of having enough money to pay for your living expenses for the rest of your life without having to depend on wage paying work. There are several paths you cant take to reach FI but the one I’m taking focuses on a high savings rate and passively investing money over time. This is all still relatively new to me and I’m learning what it truly means to be financially free and the many different avenues you can take to get there. I’m learning as I go and I want to share everything I learn with you.

I have always lived a frugal lifestyle so the concept of saving the majority of my income was the easy part. The hard part was learning what to do with that money – which really isn’t hard at all and I’m here to show you how simple it really is! We all have to start somewhere, whether that’s learning how to save money or learning how to make that money work for you.

As part of my FI journey, I’m always looking for the best and most affordable stuff and creative ways to do things. I’m a firm believer that you should never pay full price for anything. I also believe that you can live a life full of joy and pleasure without having to spend an obscene amount of money to support that lifestyle. I’ll share all of my tips and tricks on how to save money and spend smarter right here.

Whether you’re looking to save a little more money, find great deals, or you’re inspired to take a similar FI journey – you’ve come to the right place.
